I am very pleased to recommend IPM as a quality training provider and project management consultancy.

For the past 18 months, the Institute of Project Management (IPM) has been working closely with Flinders Council, providing training, mentoring and project support, as well as consultancy services as required, which attests to their industry  currency.

IPM staff, including their trainers, Paul Muller and Kath Wilson, have been instrumental in delivering training outcomes for Council staff that have had significant positive impact on Council’s business, including:

  • staff that are competent project managers
  • ongoing mentoring support to learners (staff), both face-to-face, online and via phone
  • identification of learning styles and appropriate flexibility in training delivery
  • a willingness to contextualise training other resources to meet our needs

Flinders Council finds IPM to be innovative and dynamic in their approach to project management and remain responsive to emerging business and training needs.

From a client’s perspective, IPM have been easy to work with. They have taken time to develop positive rapport with Council staff and have always been willing to talk through and discuss any concerns and/or questions in relation to project management, taking a genuine interest in developing the capacity of the Council.

In my opinion, and as experienced by Flinders Council staff, learners undertaking qualifications in project management from IPM will benefit greatly and increase the capacity of their employers to manage a host of business needs, identify opportunities and manage resources.

Raoul Harper
General Manager / Flinders Council

Working with IPM over the last 17 months, IPM have shown that they are highly experienced and professional project managers and educators. Their consultative approach has greatly assisted in the preparation and delivery of the successful project management training that commenced in mid 2015.

It is worthy to note that through this program we have clearly defined the division of roles and responsibilities with IPM specifically around program design and delivery, quality assurance and administration.

We look forward to working with you (IPM) to ensure that all staff undertaking this program have a successful experience.

Mark Wilson
Delivery Manager / Entura

Derek (trainer) was a great teacher and his personal stories and ability to laugh and be funny; made the training more enjoyable.

Our business, Megvar, is a wholly Australian owned power engineering firm that specialises in high voltage design, testing, construction and asset maintenance for our clients. Since our company’s inception in 2004, we have rapidly grown and now employ more than 50 engineering staff. Megavar is a national business and we are proud that our Queensland office in Brisbane has an expanding client list that includes Ergon Energy, Alstom Grid, Tenix, Zinfra and several mining based Queensland businesses.

I can personally attest to IPMs expertise in project management within the greater construction industry and ability to delivery highly relevant and industry contextualised project management training. This confidence is from: working with some of IPMs key staff in the delivery of projects in my role as Program Director for Aurora Energy (utility company); and from IPM successfully facilitating project management training for Megavar staff responsible for the delivery of our industry projects.

Thanks again for assisting us through this. I’ve had some fantastic feedback from the team about the course.

It was really well executed and provided the team the opportunity to reflect on the way we currently do things and they are now keen to work through introducing some changes to our methodology – great outcome!

A few of the more vocal team members will be forming a working group to get started on developing our standards and implementing them across the teams which is a great step forward for us.

I’m really pleased to see that it hasn’t just been another training course for us and that we are looking to transfer the skills moving forward.

Lynette Redward

Thoroughly enjoyed the course. Felt it was inclusive and engaging.

I gained a lot from this training and had a number of light bulb moments. Excellent.

The Cradle Coast Authority (CCA) is a joint authority created by the nine councils of North West Tasmania to facilitate the sustainable development of the region, resolve regional issues and coordinate regional-scale activity. This activity spans local and regional approaches to economic and community development as well as tourism  and natural resource management.

A core priority for the CCA is to build workforce capability within the region, including within its member Councils and other economic and community development professionals. Improving decision making, identifying the need for and managing change and turning strategy into effective action is essential in contributing to economic growth and prosperity, and the wellbeing and sustainability of our communities. The CCA is committed to working with the Institute of Project Management (IPM) to develop the project management skills set that underpins such endeavor.

The CCA recently partnered with IPM to successfully deliver business case training in the region. Working with IPM and with the support of the Skills Tasmania’s Skills Fund, the CCA aims to continue to build on this capacity and actively support the development of project management skills through further project management training.

I believe there will be continued interest in increasing project management skills in the region and look forward to continuing to work with IPM to progress related training opportunities.

IPM provide specialist project management and continuous improvement support to individuals, industry, government, and the not-for-profit sector. Their services include: training needs analysis; accredited education; short courses; mentoring services; facilitation; and project consultancy.

Some key strengths of IPM include:

  • Their team all have senior management experience across multiple industries;
  • They are able to effectively blend theoretical knowledge and the practical application through management and project management associated topic areas;
  • They actively seek to customise their resources and delivery approach to suit the organisation; and
  • They are focussed on delivering quality learning outcomes that align to the organisations direct needs.

In my previous role at Southern Water / TasWater as Project Manager for the People and Capability Framework Project, I engaged IPM on behalf of the company on a number of  occasions  to facilitate both accredited and non-accredited training, including in the areas of:

  • Leadership
  • Management and Communication
  • Project Management
  • Emergency Management
  • Incident reporting
  • Specialist Administration areas including record keeping and systems training

Participant feedback was always very positive and from an organisational perspective learning outcomes expectations were met. IPM applies a highly consultative approach, not only in the training design stage, but also in an ongoing Quality Assurance process.

In the future I would have no hesitation to engage IPM again.

As a current Tas Chapter Councillor for the Australian institute of Project Management, I am happy and confident to further endorse IPM as topic experts in project management.

I would like to express the TCCI’s commitment to working with the Institute of Project Management (IPM) to deliver training to our membership.

Working with IPM helps us to provide access to tailored and subsidised accredited training options, representing great benefit to TCCI members.

TCCI members, across all industries, continue to express their need to develop their project management skills to improve their employment an business outcomes and create a culture of continuous improvement within the Tasmanian economic sector.

It is our experience, that across the varying business needs of our membership, that the demand for the Certificate IV, Diploma and Project Management skills sets continues to grow.

IPM deliver high quality, relevant and responsive training options to achieve the best possible training outcomes for our members. Participant feedback has supported the design and delivery of the program.

TCCI and IPM have a strong working relationship with clear delegated roles and responsibilities. I have no hesitation in supporting and working with IPM.

The City of Launceston plays a critical role in the delivery of local services and infrastructure, to ensure the ongoing needs of our local communities continue to be met.

With an annual capital budget in excess of $20m and a further operational budget of almost $100m per year, Council has a vast number of projects to be implemented each year. With the majority of our project work delivered within a community setting, the supplementary economic growth able to be leveraged from these deliverables is significant.

Since 2013, the City of Launceston has worked with the Institute of Project Management (IPM) in the delivery of project foundation programs. We continue to be highly satisfied in their ability to deliver relevant programs that blend their industry knowledge, skill and experience with industry best practice. Participant feedback from these previous programs has always been very positive and from an organisational perspective, learning outcomes continue to demonstrate relevance and practicality to our position requirements.

(Council is currently working with IPM to achieve…) targeted skill development of some key project leaders in the organisation, with the aim of realising improved project delivery and enhanced organisational practices.

We look forward to the opportunity to continue our partnership with IPM, as we strive to build the capacity  of our workforce to deliver effective outcomes  for our   community.
